And another weekend bights the dust.

Yesterday, I actually managed to get Charlotte and myself ready to go out in 1/2 hr. Somewhat of a record. I just threw everything conceivable into bags to cover all bases and off we went to Lake Wellington in Gippsland. I’d completely forgotton about the AGM at the Yacht Club there, so after a rare breakfast in bed (cuppa’s are regular, but not the full breakfast) my partner reminded me about the event.

It was such a lovely day and a beautiful place to visit and there were no complaints from Charlotte when I mentioned the possibility of going. She LOVES throwing stones into the water there and has spent 2 hrs doing so with Grandad by her side, whilst I have been on the yacht with Peter for the race that takes place once a month during Summer. I only managed a couple of races last Summer. Hoping to put in more next Summer provided someone can tag along to care for Charlotte.

Like her Mum, She is not a very keen sailor and I can’t blame her. The lifejacket is so big, yet the right size for her if that makes sense! It’s so bulky and Charlotte doesn’t like wearing it as it is so restrictive unlike our lightweight ones. That means I have a very hard time getting my little pixie up on deck to enjoy the scenery and it’s rather miserable all ’round. I’m not a keen sailor these days for many reasons. Having lived on yachts I have encountered some frightening situations and my lack of skills make for a dangerous scenario should something happen to Peter on board, particularly if Charlotte is with us.

We actually have two small yachts. Seems extravagant, I know. One for racing and one for cruising, but I’m too frightened to go cruising just yet without a third adult on board. Still, we have done a little bit of it but I need to improve my skills 10 fold before I’ll feel comfy, I think. Someone needs to be with Charlotte as She gets frightened easily, too whilst I am helping to sail. Peter can, for the most part, sail the boat on his own, but in windier weather it helps to have an extra set of hands on deck.

Today, our trip to the snow was postponed due to the prediction of strong winds that didn’t arrive. Another beautiful day, so rather disappointing, however it allowed me to join a small bunch of women at a friends cafe in town for a knitting session, cuppa’s, muffins and good banter.

I’ve had this hankering to knit albeit basically and I wanted to work with orange & blue yarn, so for quite sometime I’ve been knitting rectangles when I can and when they’re done I will sew them all together and add some material to the back to make a dolls blanket or something for the cat to lie on. For the moment it is just fulfilling my desire to be a bit more crafty, so to speak.

Later in the afternoon, I was just itching to get outside, so I did just that and managed a bit of weeding. I took Charlotte along to the local nursery first and She insisted that we purchase some plants even though I didn’t see much of interest for the particular space at home that I had in mind. Tomorrow we’ll plant the two Munstead Lavender plants that we/I purchased.

For some reason tonight I was feeling super ratty. I guess I’m not coping well at times with the constant ‘Mum’ thing. I LOVE being a Mum, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes if I hear that word one more time, I feel like I’m going to explode! Honestly, I just have to move a couple of feet away and I’m called back and sometimes Charlotte gets into this little habit whereby She will say “Mum”, I’ll answer, but She has nothing to say other than “I don’t know what to say”. It does crack me up occasionally and when it doesn’t, we chat about it later. I do know that I will one day miss being needed soooo much, so I’d best not wish it away just yet, had I? LOL

And what do you know, it looks like I’ll be able to hit the hay before midnight for a change, but I think you’re getting to know by now that it probably won’t happen.

Keep you posted.
