What a fabulous way to start our day. Charlotte & I headed off at 9.30 am for a 10 o’clock start at the West Gippsland Arts Centre, to attend a one hour kiddie session organised by a Homeschooling Mum, to see the Melbourne

Symphony Orchestra. The well known conductor Richard Gill kept things orderly and all of us enthralled with his wit.

He asked for a few children to head up on stage to sing  ‘ Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ individually in front of the large audience and I have to tell you, their sweet voices choked me up. They were amazingly on key and I felt proud as punch as if it were Charlotte up there. No chance that’s going to happen, not for a long time anyway, but She happily bopped about on my knee to the music and seemed quite mesmerised at times.

On the way to the Arts Centre in the car, Charlotte and I were having such a giggle because for some reason She couldn’t say the word ‘interesting’, but She could say ‘Orchestra’ and every time She tried to say ‘interesting’, She’d trip up on it even though She’s never had a problem any other time.

Back to the main subject.

We had lots of fun and frivolity in other ways, watching whilst some of the kids volunteered for the various requests by Richard Gill such as conducting, dancing, playing instruments and clapping tunes out for various members of the orchestra to play on their instruments. One little girl was asked to clap a slightly longer rhythm, so She did one extra clap only which sent us off into fits of laughter, well it sent me off into fits of laughter. I think I had a smile on my face for the whole morning.

We had three full classical pieces played by the orchestra and I didn’t want the music to stop.  Two of my favorite Composers were in there, Mozart & Tchaikovsky along with a wonderful piece by Prokofiev.  There is something very moving about classical music when you are right there in the room with the orchestra. I have experienced it a number of times and even music that isn’t particularly pleasant to the ear takes on a life of its own when you can see the different instruments being played. The work that the conductor and orchestra do from woe to go is phenomenal.

Another great thing about our day.

The event started and finished sooner than I anticipated, so I was able to make it home for my Affiliatenaire Accountability session with some other Mom Masterminds members. It was another great session. By now you will probably know that Mom Masterminds is one of my favourite online places to hang out.

And yet another great thing. I hope you’re not finding this too monotonous by now, but Charlotte had a playmate over and they played beautifully together. After collecting her friend, we stopped in and I offloaded a few bags of clothing to the Op shop. This is always a positive process. In case you are not familiar with the term Op shop it is short for Opportunity shop & is our equivalent of a Charity shop. I can’t resist having a look around these places. in fact, it is a passion of mine to go Op shopping and I came away with a lovely skirt. I’m hoping to wear it tomorrow as we’re expecting 30C temps here and it will be quite sultry as was today.

Tonight I find myself alone. The day has brought a great deal of variety and pleasure into our lives. Charlotte is peacefully sleeping and Peter has gone off sailing for the weekend with his son. It’s rather blissful I have to say.  I crave personal space these days. Not having to interact with another person is food for my Soul and it is far too rare an occurrence.  I shall lap it up whilst I can.
