I have tried a drinking apparatus for rabbits, guinea pigs etc (didn't work) which is what I modified for Tessa. Awhile back I put a post in at MM and drinking fountains were suggested, but the site I tried didn't have anything appealing and too expensive.

I'm nervous about spending more, but I tell you what, Cindy if one of these works you will be my hero forever. I think I might just grab one. Postage is costly, but hey it'll be worth it for my sanity. Can always resell on Ebay.

Thanks for the link :-)

Debra,

I have spied my cat from time to time drinking from her bowl, but not too often and I know She plain old has to if I'm not pandering to her needs. Same deal as your friend when we go away, too. She's fine.

Here's another funny quirk of Tessa's, sometimes She just wants me to stroke her and approve of her before She'll eat her food. That one is kinda cute. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think lion and tiger cubs have to wait for their food and have their Mum approve it before they move in for their share, so perhaps it's an instinctual thing.

LOL... I know where the twin to your kitty lives. I swear - my girlfriend has a cat who won't drink out of anything but a running faucet.

Funny thing is... when she leaves for several days and the "kitty" must fend for herself... she doesn't seem to be dehydrated in any way upon return.

Hmmm... Cat's have a strange way of controlling the environment and the "human parents". :0)

Krissy, thanks for checking in. Even though I was being amusing, it is taking a humorous view of something that also concerns me. Sometimes I like to see the funny side of life when it's actually driving me crazy.

I have not exhausted all avenues yet and will be delving further into the great site that Cindy posted for me. A drinking fountain could just do the job.

I see from your comment above that you were being amusing! I thought you were serious. I was going to suggest medication. I saw a TV documentary once about a polar bear in a zoo who could not stop swimming, despite the fact the zookeepers tried to help him. Finally the zookeepers gave him Prozac. A few weeks later the polar bear ceased jumping in the man-made lake. He was free from his obsessive habit! I may be saying this as if it is a funny or cute story, but OCD is actually a very tormenting illness. I hope your cat is ok, and doesn't really have OCD. If not, I hope she gets relief like the polar bear dead!

It's meant to be amusing, Mary. I had fun writing it, actually. Cats are a law unto themselves that's for sure.

It would seem that Tessa has you very well trained! In the last weeks before we lost our "moggy" (LOVE that word) he had me trained to feed him his kibble one piece at a time. And to soak it in the oil from a can of tuna first. As for Tessa, have you tried a cat drinking fountain? http://bit.ly/2uNiIh

Whilst (I just wanted to say that word) I have no words of wisdom for your OCD cat, I must say this is a very funny story. I know the situation is not funny, but the way you present it is! I don't know why some cats are so particular or finicky, but some certainly are! They like what they like and that's just the way it is, and there's no changing their minds about it.
