Yesterday, Sept. 11th was our 6th Anniversary. We take it from our first date given we’re not married. My partner has every second Friday off, so I asked if he could somehow work this one as his day at home and he did. It was a bit of a milestone anniversary for me without going into detail. The day was a bit of a fizzer on some levels unfortunately. I wanted to do something like go out for lunch, a country drive perhaps but instead, my morning was taken up with phone calls and organising.
This is why. I received a call from the Royal Childrens Hospital saying there is an appointment available next Friday for my daughter to have some surgery done to both thumbs. I didn’t dare knock it back having had Charlotte on a waiting list for almost a year and I had to give an answer right there and then.
If only it was offered any other week, but no, I had several important things on this coming week that have now been cancelled. The operation is at 7.15am and is in Melbourne, 2 hrs drive away. So, I had to cancel things, arrange accommodation, check in with my Dad. Trains from my hometown don’t leave early enough to get us there on time, so we’ll be going overnight and staying in a hotel opposite the hospital. We’ll still travel by train. (more…)
